I am so excited to start sharing all of the exciting weddings and other work I have been doing in 2013, and we are starting it off RIGHT with the wedding of Kam and Dev! These two got married and the lovely Sea Cider Farm and Ciderhouse. We did all of the photos beforehand so that they could go straight from their ceremony to their reception. Consequently they did a “first look”, revealing themselves all dressed up to each other. And as you can see, they both wore quite the attire! The amazing florals were done by Platinum Floral Designs. They were so beyond beautiful – something I am always seeing from this company.
This wedding was so full of unforgettable moments. It started with the guys getting ready in full Scottish regalia!
And lovely Kam so full of joy!
Super fun bridesmaids too! Spontaneous dancing all day!
The groomsmen? Um yeah, they were super fun too!!!
On our way to the first look!
Had to stop for a shot of these lovely ladies!
First time I saw a rear flash at a first look, BUT I should have expected it given the super fun nature of this couple!
Then off for some portraits before the ceremony. I love photos that are full of joy and life. And these fit that category 🙂
Then on to the Sea Cider for one great wedding!
I love EVERYTHING about this next photo. I think you can see why.
And one happy groom!
I do take nice family photos, promise. But you have to love when a family also has a little fun with it. 😀
And time for the first dance!
I told Dev’s mom at one stage she was so easy to photograph because she always looked so joyful. In response she said, “I have a wonderful son.” I agree.
This was another of my favourite moments. A mother-daughter dance! Kam and her mom had choreographed a dance to medley that included some Kanye West and I believe some LMFAO if I remember correctly, along with other songs. It was the first time I have seen this and it was AMAZING! It will live in my memory forever, and I am guessing that also goes for everyone else there.
Yes, Dev wore a headlamp for the garter toss. I told you it was great.
And party time!
Bride and Groom Q&A:
1) Tell me how you first met? Who what when where why? Give me the details.
We met at Camp Sasamat when we were 16. It wasn’t love at first site, but on the last day of camp, we had a slideshow/camp dinner, Dev offered me his sweater to sit on on the floor and we just clicked since then. We kept in touch through MSN when school started.
2) When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did?, etc.
Dev and I just developed our appreciation for one another and it developed into love. I suppose dev’s charming looks, Kam’s blue streaked hair helped and our mutual appreciation of the outdoors 🙂
3) Tell me about the proposal.
Dev was supposed to do it on Xmas day, but was too terrified to do it in front of Kam’s family so it was delayed. Dev decided to go through with the proposal a few days later, while trying to catch the ferry back to Victoria. Dev took Kam (blindfolded) to Whiterock Beach where we had our first date. Kam thought she was about to get a xmas present (ie. dog). Dev had tealight candles laid out and a song playing in the background. Dev unblindfolded Kam and got down on his knees. Kam was so overwhelmed with excitement and was crying too much to even hear the rest of what Dev said as he proposed. HAha!
4) Tell me the one thing you love most about each other.
This one is a tough one as it’s more than just one thing…Kam loves Dev’s ability to let Kam win ANY argument without letting Kam know. Dev loves Kam’s goofy smile, it makes him happy.
5) Share with me something silly or quirky the other person does.
Kam has solo dance-offs. Dev can make heart shapes out of anything (leaves, legos, wood)
6) Besides getting married –‐ what was your favourite thing about your wedding day?
Sitting down at the sweet heart table with just each other as company, eating and talking about how we cannot believe we just got married, and being able to visit with people we have not seen in years.
7) What inspired your décor or theme?
Our minimal budget and Weddinggawkers.com
8) What’s one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?
What the schedule is like for a typical wedding. For example, how much time is needed for cocktail hours, unexpected delays and speeches. We both have not been to many weddings and therefore did not know what is expected of a wedding.
