I was told by a friend about the amazing new Victoria Bridal Boutique – so I had to check it out! After all who doesn’t love a store full of beautiful gowns? Well, I was amazed at what I saw. Yes, there were the beautiful gowns and gorgeous accessories, but the space itself was stunning! The gowns are laid out so they are easy to see, the dressing rooms are spacious and well appointed, and there is comfortable seating for the friends and family you bring with you. This is a must visit for brides! Sherrie, the owner, is committed to making every bride feel beautiful and find their right dress that fits within their budget. Ladies, she cares. Check them out for sure! Here is a little Q&A I had with Sherrie from Victoria Bridal Boutique. I’ll include some pictures I took of the boutique.
How did you get started?
It is not something I had ever thought of doing. I went to University to get my Bachelor of Education to teach children. I love children and I love to educate. The funny thing is that I have always loved looking at wedding gowns but never put two and two together. After going through a few weddings with friends and family I found that the customer service was lacking as well the ability to aid those with lower budgets. I decided at that point I wanted to learn more about the bridal industry for my own interests as well as finding ways to help friends traverse this very specific market.
What sets Victoria Bridal Boutique apart from others?
At Victoria Bridal Boutique we strive to give each bride one on one attention. We ask brides to book appointments for this very reasons. We do accept walk ins but only if our staff are not currently working with another bride. We have also kept our change room capability down to three . This means that there can only be a maximum of 3 brides on the floor at a time. This allows for each bride and her guests to enjoy their time in a less crowded setting. We also keep our main salon less cluttered by only having a few sample gowns on the floor and keeping the majority in the back. With our one on one appointments, our brides tell us the styles they are interested in as well as their budget. Our staff know our stock and can quickly find what the bride is looking for in the price ranges she has specified.
What is your favorite thing about your business?
My favorite thing is getting to see the smiles and tears on our brides when they find their perfect gown.
Do you have any advice or tips for brides planning their wedding?
Brides should start looking for their gown 8-10 months before their wedding. They do not have to physically enter a store but they need to have some ideas of what styles they would like to try. They do not have to purchase them this early but they need to check with the shop the shipping times since each manufacturer is different. Once a bride has bought her gown they need to stop looking. Do not over think it, when it feel right, it is the one.
What are the new trends you are seeing in bridal gown design?
The trend for the last few years has been sleek and sophisticated silhouettes. In the last 6 months we have been seeing a return of the natural waist ball gowns and hemlines gradually rising. You are going to see a lot of vintage/retro looks this year with cuts Jackie O was famous for.
Is there anything you want your prospective clients to know about you or something they would be surprised to find out?
Many brides are quite surprised to hear that I also own and operate a daycare. I love children and I love fashion so I get the best of both worlds.
Outside of your business, what do you love to do?
Outside my business I love my quiet down time ie. reading books, spending time with friends, lying on a warm tropical beach somewhere. I am hoping to hit the ski sloped this year after having to pass it over for the past couple of bridal seasons. My life is so busy that I enjoy the quiet things in life.
