Carrie and Shane – Romantic Victoria BC Wedding

I get the pleasure of working with some pretty amazing couples.  And this is another of them.  I met Carrie and Shane for the first time for their engagement shoot and we clicked right away.  They came to Victoria from Vancouver for their wedding, which took place at the Coast Harbourside Hotel.  I was so delighted when I showed up for the big day and realized Carrie was expecting! Yes their first little one was expected in 3 months after the wedding.  Very exciting!  Lots of joy on this wedding day. 🙂

It all started with the getting ready! (I want to thank Courtney Clarke for being my amazing second shooter)

Fortunately the wedding dress was able to be altered to accommodate the little one inside!  And it worked SO well, Carrie was one beautiful bride.

I love a dress with buttons!  And a high back!  It looks spectacular and makes for some excellent images.

I love this image.  It shows Carrie so full of joy but also moved by walking down the aisle with her dad.  So beautuful! coast hotel victoria bc harbourside wedding photographer photo photography

Their wedding featured a little group of very cute kids.  And also, great dancers.  More on that to come!

Worked with some of the beautiful spring wildflowers we have here in Victoria.  I love it here!  Also, Carrie you are a rock star!  I asked her, pregnant and in a wedding dress, if they could sit for a photo.  She did not hesitate.  I thank you Carrie!   best wedding photographer victoria bc romantic portraits photography wildlfowers beacon hill park

Wedding photos often take place at high sun.  I have had a few couples who wanted to head out for a 5-10 minute sunset session.  I think this is such a brilliant idea and I want to put it out there to future brides as a thought.  Literally these photos take about 5 minutes and capture the best light of the day.

Time for the first dance 🙂

And the party! Love those little girls dancing! wedding photographer reception dance photos victoria bc

More party photos below.  Now pay attention to those little girls!  On the bottom left, she is doing the actions to “Call Me Maybe”, which kept me in stitches.  Also directly below on the left she is dancing with the groom, OWNING that dance floor.  Also, loving the line dancing.  What a night!

Q&A with the bride and groom:

1) Tell me how you first met? Who what when where why? Give me the details.

We met through the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve in Edmonton where we both worked. We started out as friends and coworkers.

2) When did you know he/she was the one?

Shane: When after not even a year together Carrie decided to move with me to Vancouver for work.

Carrie: Shane always treated me like a princess and also called me out when I needed it. He was the man I had always needed by my side.

3) Tell me about the proposal.

We had discussed marriage and had been looking at rings together. Shane had picked one out and I just had to wait for him to ask. We were in Venice and Shane surprised me by asking as we were floating down the water with his sister there to document it. I was crying and super happy! Shane has to remind me to put the ring on.

4) Tell me the one thing you love most about each other.

Carrie:  I love that no matter how mad I want to be Shane can always make me laugh.

Shane:  I love that Carrie is such a good person and good people are hard to find.

5) Share with me something silly or quirky the other person does.

Shane will often dance around the house to whatever song is in his head. It’s hilarious.

6) Besides getting married –‐ what was your favourite thing about your wedding day?

Having all of our family around, we all live so far apart we rarely see one another.

7) What inspired your décor or theme?

We love the ocean.

8) What’s one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?

Nothing…
