Beautiful beach wedding near Parksville BC
Aileen grew up going to Rathtrevor Beach every year and it was a natural choice for her to get married on the beach. Aileen and Scott are one courageous couple – they did not have a back up plan for rain. They were determined to get married on the beautiful beach. It’s a public beach, so it cannot be blocked off for a wedding. We were hoping people might respect that, but had to mentally prepare for the idea that strangers could be curious and come watch.
What a day! As I was driving up from Victoria, the rain was just bucketing down. I am not a panicked person, as in my experience (knock wood) things work out in one way or another and the photos are no exception. I arrived and started with the bride getting ready. She confirmed – there was no rain backup plan. We both smiled looking at the rain. It will work out. The ceremony was scheduled for 2:30. I want you all to know this is a true story.
1:00 – pouring rain
2:00 – pouring rain
2:10 – pouring rain
2:15 – light rain
2:20 – NO RAIN
I am not making this up. The rain stopped. We had beautiful cloud cover for the wedding. Beautiful light. AND because it was raining just beforehand, the beach was practically empty. It was PERFECT.
